Stubborn Philosophies

If there's one thing you should know about us Schiessl's, it's that we stick to our philosophies.  It's called, "We're as stubborn as mules."

Take, for example, my grandfather.  One of my grandfather's many philosophies regards getting a tan:

"You can't get tan until you get a burn," he tells me.
"Grandpa, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard," I said.
"You just wait until I get a tan and you're still white as a ghost."
"Thanks for rubbing it in."

As you can see from the picture above, my grandpa strictly followed his philosophy today, our first day on the beach.  And now he is as red as a lobster.  Even my eleven-year-old cousin thinks so... but I think that he compared Grandpa to a tomato, instead.  It's because they're from Florida, not New England, I suppose.

But another thing you should know about my grandpa is that his name is Wolf.  Wolfgang Amadeus Schiessl.  Therefore, he has a right to be stubborn, and no, I am not kidding.

My father and brother have also adopted the no-I-will-not-put-on-sunscreen philosophy and are subsequently burnt as well.  However, not having had the number of years that Wolfgang has had to cement their stubborn philosophies, they are lesser shades of red.

And if you wanted to know, yes, I have also inheirited the stubborn philosophy gene.  I just don't live by any philosophies that will hinder my fabulous appearance.

Ha.  Ha.  Ha.

Love and yes I am as pale as always,

  1. I agree with Gramps....once you get that first summer burn out of the way the rest is easy sailing to a nice dark tan! Maybe not for you though Courtney...unfortunately, like my sisters you will just succumb to the cycle of burn peel, burn peel.....

  2. I think I succumb to the steady state of "white as a ghost." One time someone told me that I would fit well in the Victorian era... I think that was a compliment...sort of????

  3. With your Woo, I feel you would fit in well in any era...

  4. Hahaha Dave you're too cute, please come back to TechDP? PS, what are you doing Friday? We're thinking of doing something at JMills' place with all of the old TechDP crew.
